Access to labels is available from the Labels command option in Shipping Options, Purchasing Options, Inventory Options, and Print Labels. Different label templates are available from different parts of the system. The system "filters" all of the labels and presents a list of labels that are associated with the specific part of the system that is being accessed.
Access the Labels function via one of the following system options below and then proceed to Step #4.
4. Select the ADD option from the selection window that appears. The label screen appears. You may also select from the list of labels to make changes to the selected label template or design. However, only labels with a number greater than 99 are user defined templates – labels numbered less than 100 are sample labels which cannot be modified by the user.
5. If you wish to replicate an existing label as a template, select the ADD option and type Y in the Replicate Template field of the label screen. A Select A Label window will appear displaying label templates. Select the template to replicate or copy by scrolling to the appropriate template and pressing Enter.
Note: Only carton, order, and manifest-type shipping labels use a level. All other labels do not use a level.
The label template and design will become the basis of the new label and will populate the remaining label template fields & label designer with the values of the selected label. The template fields and label fields can be added to, deleted, or changed.
6. At the Label Name field, assign a name to the label.
7. Specify the width and height of the label.
8. Define whether the label is to be printed with graphic commands (Y = Graphical) dot matrix or laser printing or PCL commands (N = PCL) – thermal transfer label printers using the DataMax compatible universal printer driver (Net•Yield does not support printing to the Zebra printer drivers). If bar code fonts are to be used, PCL must be selected and be printed to a PCL compatible printer.
9. If PCL is chosen, specify the appropriate rotation (1 = No Rotation; 2 = 90 degrees; 3 = 180 degrees, 4 = 270 degrees).
10. If you have a dedicated label printer to print labels of a specified size or type, enter Y (Y = Change) to specify the default printer for the label. A Windows printer dialog box will appear. Expand the dropdown menu to see a list of all printers installed on the workstation. Scroll up or down the list until you find the printer you wish to use as the override printer, then select it and press Enter or click OK. See your network administrator for more information on how to use the Windows printer dialog box.
When the basic label setup has been completed, the Label Designer tool will be activated. See Using the Label Designer (below).
For more information on the Labels option see Labels.
