The left hand pane is the label design pane. To the right is a list of available fields that can be used on the label.
See Label Fields for a list of which fields can be included for each label type.
To place a field on the label:
Right-click on the field name in the list and select Create Field. That field will then be moved on to the label.
To modify the text attributes of a selected field or text box:
Right click again on the field name in the list or text box and additional options will be displayed:
- Create Field – Select Create Field to add the field to the label again.
- ADD - Line Detail – Select ADD - Line Detail to add the field to the line detail grid box
- You must first create the grid box using the ADD- Line Detail button.
- Delete Field – Select Delete Field to delete the field from the label.
- Font – Select Font to change the font, font style, size and effects for the field selected or text box.
- Italic – Select Italic to change the current font to be italic.
- Bold – Select Bold to change the current font to be bold.
- Alignment – Select Alignment to change the font alignment within the field or text box.
Specify the width of the text box in the Width field (units of measurement are pixels). Click and drag the box to the desired location, or specify the coordinates (in pixels) in the Top and Left fields on the right side of the screen. Top and Left measurements refer to the position of the upper-left corner of the field in relationship to the upper-left corner of the label itself.
A custom text box can also be created by clicking on the Add Textbox button. The Text label can then be replaced with whatever text you wish to change it to.
Use the same options as above to change the font, alignment, etc.
Adding images to a label:
Up to five images can be added to a label (for example, a company logo). To add, right-click on the IMAGE # field in the field list, then select Add Image. A Windows selection box will appear allowing you to select the desired image. After selecting the image, right-click on the IMAGE 1 field and select Edit to access the tools for rotating and positioning the image on the label as desired.
Creating the line detail box:
Select
ADD - Line Detail to create the line detail box needed on carton content, manifest carton content, and on order line detail and order line lot detail label types. A grid box will appear on the label. To add a field to the grid box, right-click on the field name in the list and select ADD - Line Detail. To modify the text attributes of the selected field or text box, right-click again on the field name in the field list or text box and additional options will be displayed:
- Create Field – Select Create Field to add the field to the label again.
- ADD - Line Detail – Select ADD - Line Detail to add the field to the line detail grid box
- You must first create the grid box using the ADD- Line Detail button.
- Delete Field – Select Delete Field to delete the field from the label.
- Font – Select Font to change the font, font style, size and effects for the field selected or text box.

If the label is a PCL-type label...
If the label is a PCL-type label, select Enable PCL PRN codes so the selected fields can be barcode-printed using the following barcode standards:
- B – (UPC-A)
- C – (UPC-E)
- E – (128)
- Q – (EAN - UCC128)
Select Disable PCL PRN codes to turn off barcode formatting.
When you are done designing the label...
When you are done designing the label, click on the SAVE button. A Windows dialog box appears with the following message, "Do you want to save your work?"
- Select Yes to save the label design and return to the label template command line.
- Select No to abandon the label design or changes and return to the Select A Label Template window.
- Select Cancel to return to the label designer.
The following command options will appear:
- Change – Select Change to change the label template.
- Template Designer – Select Template Designer to return to the template designed in order to make changes to the label design.
- Update – Select to Update to save the label or changes to the label.
- Exit – Select Exit to exit from the label template without saving the changes.
- The following message will appear: “Are you sure you wish to exit without updating !!! No/Yes."
- Select No to return to the command options.
- Select Yes to exit without updating.
